Committees

There are currently three AGA Committees. Each committee is dedicated to a specific cause, each working towards the greater goals of the AGA. All committees are open to all members of the AGA, and members are welcome to join as many committees as they wish.

How do I join a committee?

AGA Committees

Education Committee

The education committee is in charge of the creation of all educational materials for AGA members.

Committee members work together on the following projects:

Brainstorm webinar topics and host them

Plan and execute the annual education conference

This committee meets once a month and more often before the annual conference.

Expansion of Genetic Services and JEDI Committee

The EGS/JEDI committee is working towards expanding traditionally underserved positions/roles (prenatal and general genetics) and enhancing the diversity amongst the genetic counseling community in Arizona.

Committee members work together on the following projects:

Identifying key stakeholders in these specialty areas that can help create new positions

Creating documents and resources that can be used to justify the creation of these positions.

School outreach to underserved populations at the high school, undergraduate and graduate levels

Assessing barriers for potential genetic counselors to create easier pathways for students interested in genetic counseling

This committee meets once a month.

Licensure Committee

The licensure committee is charged with obtaining licensure for AZ genetic counselors.

This committee meets on an as-needed basis.
